Shell Foundation
Alice is a Trustee of the Shell Foundation. This charity has been at the heart of building enterprise-based solutions to poverty for the last 20 years. With a focus on renewable energy for the poor and sustainable transport solutions for the poor, Shell Foundation has backed many of the pioneering companies in solar lighting, in clean cookstoves and in low-carbon transport in the poorest countries in Africa and South Asia. It is also increasingly focused on the role of mini grids in delivering energy to the poor. The Shell Foundation’s interventions have improved the lives of millions of people and have tested the business models that can be brought to scale to reduce poverty more widely.
